Rheumatoid Arthritis – a Common and Painful Disease
|
|
Rheumatoid arthritis is the painful joint problem, characterized by inflammation of the muscles and joints. Earlier rheumatoid arthritis was known to affect only aged people but now the symptoms are visible in youths belonging to the age group of 20s-30s. This arthritis begins with attacking smaller joints like ankles, wrists and hands, and then slowly spreads into bigger joints.
Why does rheumatoid arthritis happen?
When the white blood cells become hyperactive, they cause inflammation. The hyperactive process initiates production of cytokines, which tends to attract more inflammatory cells to the affected area and thus the cytokines production increases manifold. Excessive cytokines production destroys the tissues and cartilage.
Like other systemic illnesses, rheumatoid arthritis slowly damages every body part – heart, lungs, skin, and brain. Evidently, there are no permanent solutions for arthritis, it can only be prevented or controlled, either way!
One cannot even trust the medicines available for cure as they have serious side effects involving lungs, bones, heart, and gastrointestinal system.
